Trusting the Journey: A Lesson from an Unexpected Place
A personal reflection on how an unexpected purchase became a powerful reminder about intuition, support, and trusting life's gentle nudges to guide us back to what truly matters.

Well, I've done it. I've done something I thought I would never be able to do in my lifetime.
I've bought a brand-new car.
But not just any car. The funny thing is, I wasn't dreaming about this for years. I didn't really consider many other options or spend hours researching brands, specifications, design, or how big the boot space was.
I needed one, I liked the look of it, and I was offered a good deal so I went for it.
No questions asked. No doubts. No endless overthinking. Just, "Yes please, when can I take it away?"
To my surprise, I'm now the owner of a Chery Tiggo 7, and I'm over the moon. Life is simply easier now. More comfortable. It gives me everything I need and more.
But this isn't a car review. Because let's face it, as gorgeous as this car is, it's still just a car.
Or so I thought...
As I'm getting used to the sensors, alarms and constant reminders that I've been distracted for too long and need to keep my eyes on the road, I've found myself reflecting on something much deeper.
A warning flashes up when I drift.
A gentle nudge reminds me to refocus
A subtle prompt encourages me back on course.
At first, I found it a little annoying. Despite the fact I can thankfully turn most of the settings off, it got me thinking.
What if life worked like that?
How helpful would it be if we all received reminders every now and then that we were heading slightly off track? A gentle nudge when we become distracted. A quiet prompt when we're moving away from what truly matters. A reassuring hand guiding us back when we've wandered from our path.
And then I realised, perhaps we do. Perhaps guidance doesn't always arrive in the way we expect.
Sometimes it comes through another person. A friend. A parent. A partner. A mentor.
Sometimes it arrives through an opportunity, a challenge, a conversation or even a moment of stillness.
And sometimes it's that quiet inner voice, our intuition, gently encouraging us to pay attention and trust ourselves.
So whilst I'm delighted with my new car, the greatest thing it has given me so far isn't the technology, the comfort or the smooth drive. It's the reminder that life becomes easier when we stop trying to navigate everything alone.
Sometimes all we need is a gentle nudge to lift our eyes, refocus on the road ahead, and trust that we're exactly where we need to be.

For me, we all need something in our lives that plays that role, whether that's validation, encouragement, reinforcement or correction. We all need reminding from time to time, of who we are, what we care about, and where we're headed.
Of course, we can make decisions on our own. As adults, we can learn our lessons, make mistakes, take wrong turns and eventually find our way, and there is great value in that.
I've always believed that some of life's greatest lessons come from getting things wrong and learning from the experience, but how much easier might life feel if we allowed ourselves to receive support along the way?
How many wrong turns could we avoid?
How many unnecessary struggles could we let go of?
How much more smoothly would we move through life if we listened to those gentle nudges, trusted and leaned in rather than waiting until we're completely lost and off course?
The truth is, no matter how confident, capable or self-belief we possess, we all benefit from support.
We all benefit from feeling seen, understood and loved. For me, that support feels like unconditional love. It feels like kindness, wisdom, and trust. A spiritual guide quietly walking alongside me.
Not leading the way, not making decisions for me, but reminding me that I'm never truly alone.
Knowing someone, or something greater than ourselves, has our back no matter what is one of life's greatest gifts.
No explaining. No second guessing. No conditions. Just presence.
